Stolen started off perfectly. "You say me before I saw you. In the airport, that day in August,...."(Christopher 1) Just that first line made me want to read it more. Maybe it was the way Ty "blue eyes, icy blue, looking back at me..."(Christopher 1). Or maybe the way Gemma was able to describe Ty the way he looked, the way he talked, and the way his eyes made you feel. His icy blue eyes. Both Gemma and Ty wanted something. Ty wants to have Gemma with him in the desert and for her to see what he see and the natural beauty of the Great Sandy Desert. Ty wanted Gemma to understand why he followed her and why he took her to the desert. Gemma just wants to be like any teen wants to be. She didn't do what her parents. She was a rebellious teen and stayed out late. Gemma just wanted something different and new, and that what I think she thought that Ty was going to give her, something new and different. Although many may disagree with my thoughts I feel bad for Ty. Ty followed Gemma and in some cases protected her. He followed her for 9 plus years and kept a close eye on her personal life. Ty was also able to understand Gemma. He knew that she didn't want to do what her parents did for work. I also feel that this book can really relate to modern day. In modern-day people are always on technology and listening to what people have to say on social media. Most of society as a whole is always moving and not paying attention or listening to others like Gemma. Ty recognize this and he wants to help pull society head any from all of the life distractions and look around for a little, he wanted society to stop and smell the roses. I also realized from reading this book is that some people might seem to have bad intentions in the being but in the end, they can turn around and become a better person. I see many cases in modern society where people quickly judge someone because of what someone has posted on social media, how someone looks like or acts. In the book stolen Ty takes that all away from Gemma and that seems to be what Gemma needed. She wasn't attached to Ty because of Stockholm syndrome, it was because he showed her something she was wanted to see, and something society needs to see.
